We're pleased to announce that SKY is back at the Club! Stuart sourced an excellent price for the subscription and sorted the whole projector, screen and audio setup — with Eggy and Russ kindly helping get it all put up. Thanks to all!
It was a great way to watch the World Cup this year, and it was lovely to see so much support from members, friends and families. Bring your friends and family down to watch the football in good company once the season kicks off again!
Chris Hilliard set up a fishing club for members (and non-members) to go match fishing at various locations throughout the year. Here's how the season has gone so far:
Our first-ever fishing club match, arranged by Chris Hilliard (thank you!), saw 12 of us take part on a lovely sunny day at More House.
Our second outing was another success, even if the weather won overall — the fish just weren't biting.
Back to More House Farm on the Canal for the first time! There were 11 of us in total, with a guest appearance from Vinny, John's son — and everyone caught fish. Kaz, fishing with us for the first time, made a great start with the first catfish of the season, as well as carp, and Ali and Kevin caught their first-ever carp and were over the moon. Linda caught a perch “disguised as a goldfish” — you had to be there.
Lena lost a big common carp that gets bigger every time she tells the story that Chris sabotaged her hooks!
Beers and laughter followed back at the Club, chatting about what a great day it had been. As you can tell, we take it very seriously... NOT!
SPCC Darts Team played away to the Old Chestnut B team and got off to a good start, with Russ winning the first game — and then losing the next seven, whoops! There were some close games, but luck wasn't on our side that evening. Fun was had by all, which is what it's all about.
