Sunday 23 August 2026 ยท A warm day on the bank
Another great day fishing at Warwick Wold Lakes for Match Day No 4. It was a slow start until the weather warmed up. With no splashing or shouting, it was difficult to know if anyone was catching.
Baz smiled as he landed a new species: an 8.8lb Barbel. Stuart, despite forgetting his reel and needing Mrs Stuart to come to the rescue, impressed on his debut with third place on his return to fishing. Eggy stormed ahead on his pole, while DC finished second using his method fishing technique.
Ali and Linda each caught a Gudgeon, adding another species to the challenge. Along with Kaz, they showed that all the hard work practising is paying off with a great catch of fish between them.
Lena caught her first, and personal best, Mirror Carp: a whopping 4.6lb, with only ten minutes left before the match concluded!
Keith and Jeff both had a good day until Keith lost all his rigs and decided to pack up. There was another great selection of fish caught. Chris even managed to land a carp after his knee gave way and he fell over, proving that the fish was getting into the spirit of the match too.
Everyone caught, everyone had fun, and some members paraded the new SPCC Fishing Club hats, courtesy of Andrew and Blossom. Well done everyone! Knackered from Monsoon. ๐
Total weight caught: 440lb 8oz.
