Sunday 26 July 2026 · Back on the canal at Moore House Farm
Match three took us back to Moore House Farm — though this time we swapped the lake for the canal. A quick word first: "no cars beyond this point" means exactly that. If you're ever unsure where you can and can't park, please ask a member of the sports committee. Unfortunately for everyone involved, that's me. 🤣
Eleven of us lined the bank, including a guest appearance from Vinny — John's son — and everyone, without exception, caught fish. A great sign for the day ahead.
Kaz was fishing for the very first time and made an excellent start, landing our first catfish of the season in the process — not a bad way to begin an angling career. Ali and Kevin also had days to remember, both banking their first ever carp.
Linda then produced a perch so round it was mistaken for a goldfish 🐟, and Lena lost a big common carp that — going by the retelling at the scales — seems to grow a pound or two every time she tells the story. 🤣
Vinny made the most of his guest appearance, netting a smart bronze bream and a ghost carp on his way to third place with 22lb 5oz. Impressive stuff — we won't be inviting him again! 😂
Gary put in a typically strong showing, weighing in an impressive 61.3lb to take second place.
First place, meanwhile, went to Eggy — though not without a twist. He weighed in what looked like a match-winning 61.2lb, until he casually asked, "what about my other net?" That second net added a further 71.1lb, for a marvellous 132.3lb total. Well done, everyone — another great day on the bank! 🎣☀️
Kaz landed the first catfish of the season — not bad going for her very first cast with the society!
